- Institution: Be in Federal or State Owned University based in Nigeria
- Level: Currently be in their second year of full-time study in Nigeria Federal or State University accredited by the National University Commission (NUC).
- Enrollment Status: Eligible applicants must be enrolled, as at the time of this application, in an accredited educational institution, such as a College, Polytechnic, or University.
- Academic Excellence: Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record, typically with a minimum 3.00 CGPA or equivalent grade point requirement, as specified by the scholarship scheme.
- Financial Need: Candidates must showcase a genuine financial need for the scholarship, illustrating that they require financial assistance to pursue their education.

As such, applicants are required to submit letters of recommendation from their Heads of Departments who can vouch for their academic potential and/or commitment to their field of study.
